County Connections: Former teammates Henry and Faber shine as opponents

Stanford at noon Saturday, while UC Davis doesnt play again until its annual Alumni Game at noon on Feb. 18.
Heres how other former Santa Cruz County high school athletes fared last week at the collegiate level:
BASEBALL
Brett Levy, UC San Diego freshman catcher [Scotts Valley]: Went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs in a 14-4 win over Western Oregon.
Spencer Frazier, UC San Diego sophomore infielder [Soquel]: Went 2-for-4 with two runs in a 14-4 win over Western Oregon.
Scott Masik, Cal State Los Angeles junior outfielder [Santa Cruz native]: Went 4-for-6 with two doubles, a run and an RBI out of the leadoff spot in a season-opening 15-5 win over Cal Baptist.
Justin Burns, UC San Diego senior pitcher [Monte Vista Christian]: Tossed 1 innings of scoreless relief with two strikeouts in a 5-4 loss to Western Oregon.
WOMENS TRACK AND FIELD
Elle Sanders, UCLA sophomore runner [Santa Cruz]: Ran the second leg of the 4×400-meter relay as the Bruins won in a season-best 3 minutes, 49.17 seconds at the Bronco Classic in Idaho. Also took sixth in the 1-mile run in 5;10.87 and 10th in the 800 meters at 2:18.65.
Elena Venable, Brown freshman runner [Santa Cruz]: Helped the Bears 4×400 team take third place in a time of 4:00.13 at the Tribute to Charles Torpey Invitational in Rhode Island. Also took 29th in the 200-meter dash in 27.57.
WOMENS GYMNASTICS
Mariesah Pierce, Cal junior [Scotts Valley]: Posted two career-best scores as the Golden Bears took down UC Davis 193.275-190.625. Scored a 9.850 in the vault to tie for first and scored a 9.800 on the uneven parallel bars to tie for fifth. Was seventh on the balance beam [9.275], 12th on the floor [9.225] and second in the all-around [38.150].
MENS VOLLEYBALL
Brian Cook, Stanford sophomore outside hitter [Soquel]: Hit 10 kills with five digs and four block assists as the Cardinal dispatched No. 1 BYU for the second day in a row, 35-33, 25-23, 25-22.
MENS GOLF
Cory McElyea, Washington sophomore [Harbor]: Finished in a tie for 82nd at the Ameri Ari Invitational in Hawaii. Shot 74-75-75 in three rounds to finish at 8 over par. The Huskies came in fifth out of 20 teams.
WOMENS BASKETBALL
Hannah Passafuime, Brown senior guard [Soquel]: Scored a game-high 19 points in a 59-55 win over Penn, adding five rebounds, two assists and a steal. Had a team-high 10 points to go with four rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block in a 57-45 loss to Princeton.
Liz Munger, Biola freshman forward [Scotts Valley]: Had five points and a rebound in a 66-56 win over Concordia.
Tess Dominguez, Notre Dame de Namur freshman center [Soquel]: Finished with a point and two rebounds in a 67-50 win over Dominican.
MENS BASKETBALL
Shayne Perryman, Monterey Peninsula sophomore forward [St. Francis]: Scored 12 points with eight rebounds, two assists and a steal against De Anza.
Zen Maki, Monterey Peninsula freshman guard [Santa Cruz]: Scored eight points with three rebounds, three steals and two assists against De Anza.
Kevin Konopelski, UC Santa Cruz senior guard [Santa Cruz]: Scored four points off the bench in a 90-58 loss to Chapman.
Colin Gruber, Northern Arizona freshman guard [Harbor]: Scored two points and had a steal in a 74-68 loss to Eastern Washington.
Jon Bogaard, North Park freshman guard [Harbor]: Logged two points and two rebounds in a 84-63 loss to Illinois Wesleyan.
